A Brief History Of Esports

In 1972 “The Intergalactic Spacewar Olympics” was held at Stanford University, as the first ever Esports event and it has sparked interest in video game competitions ever since.

Shortly after, Nintendo and Atari created  official competitions such as the Nintendo World Championships and the Space Invaders Competition.

Current Day Esports

Currently Esports is widely accepted in the gaming culture. From small local grassroots competitions to Esports conferences in high schools and colleges, and even gaming companies hosting tournaments officially.

And now Esports is large enough to topple some of the biggest traditional sports events and entities such as the Superbowl.

Where We’re Taking Esports

The AIE has been studying and identifying areas within Esports which have been overlooked. We have found the biggest part of Esports which is overlooked is applying the skills learned in Esports to the real world.

Developing skillsets learned in Esports can help bring our youth to the next level: getting them accepted into colleges, creating career opportunities, and more!

We aim to build upon what Esports history has charted out for us and bring Esports to it’s next steps, creating a new culture of Esports and beyond.
